Massachusetts School of Law's Advocacy Program provides students an opportunity to develop their advocacy skills and abilities as a lawyer while competing against law students from some of the other top advocacy programs in the United States. MSL students compete in the National Criminal Defense Competition in California, The Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition, The American Association for Justice Trial Advocacy Competition and the American Constitution Society National Moot Court Competition. Teams of MSL students travel around the country to compete in both regional and national advocacy competitions.

MSL's Advocacy Program is nationally recognized for its effectiveness at training new lawyers and in its success in winning various regional and national awards. In the last five years MSL, teams have been national finalists in various advocacy competitions and won numerous awards including New England Trial Advocacy Champions, Northeast Region Trial Advocacy Champions, Northeast Region Trial Advocacy 1St Runner Up, and Best Brief in the East. On multiple occasions, MSL student advocates have won the Best Oral Advocate Award of the competition they competed in, including Nicole Dion in 2007 and 2008, Allen Woodward in 2009, and Paul Stewart in 2010.
