Motions & Litigation Practice is the last of the three required writing courses at MSL. For many students, it is the most important writing course because it introduces them to practical skills they will use throughout their careers. Our goal in this course is to ensure that students learn the basic litigation skills from filing a complaint, answering a complaint, filing motions to dismiss, drafting, serving, and responding to discovery documents, and drafting, serving, and responding to motions for summary judgment. Because repetition is the best teacher, students draft multiple documents so they understand the importance of knowing how to apply all the rules of court throughout their years in practice.
