Legal Writing & Research is MSL’s introductory legal writing course in which students learn the basic skills of rule-based reasoning and research. Our goal in this course is to ensure that students know that even though it is the introductory course, they will use the skills acquired here throughout their law school careers and into practice. This is because rule-based reasoning is the foundation for all legal writing and advocacy, and an understanding of the principles of basic legal research will lead into more advanced skills.
