On February 24, 2015, the most recent Supreme Judicial Court appointee, Justice Geraldine S. Hines, came to visit and speak with MSLAW students. Justice Hines discussed a wide variety of topics, including race relations, President Barack Obama, access to courts, and whether judges should be elected or nominated.
Justice Hines had a few parting words for new attorneys, remarking on the responsibility young lawyers have in further establishing racial equality and access to courts.
Justice Hines was confirmed and sworn in July 31, 2014. She is the first African-American woman to serve on the Supreme Judicial Court.
