PART-TIME INTERNS NEEDED FOR A NEW COURT-BASED PROJECT IN LAWRENCE – MINUTES AWAY FROM MSLAW
This is an exciting position for someone who is interested in providing customer service and learning about the court system. You will be part of a new information desk that will be located in the Fenton Judicial Center in Lawrence. The goal of this information desk will be to provide litigants and attorneys with assistance navigating the courthouse and finding the correct offices.
You will learn about:
–Common legal issues faced by self-represented litigants
–Major court departments
–Access to justice issues
–How to ask appropriate questions to match people with the correct offices
We will provide skills-based and substantive training.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
–Greeting litigants and attorneys
–Checking lists and maps to direct visitors to appropriate offices
–Coordinating with offices within the courthouse to update information as necessary
–Committed to working scheduled hours
–Able to both work independently and take direction
–Interest in customer service
–Interest in communicating with people of diverse backgrounds
–Able to remain calm under pressure
–Committed to learning and retaining information about court and local resources
–Oral fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
This is an unpaid position. All interns must complete a CORI check and be eligible to work in the United States.
