JOINT JD/MBA PROGRAM WITH NICHOLS COLLEGE ANY STUDENT WISHING TO TAKE COURSES AT EITHER NICHOLS COLLEGE, FISHER COLLEGE OR FITCHBURG STATE UNIVERSITY MUST REGISTER WITH MSL FIRST. NO CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN FOR COURSES TAKEN AT EITHER OF THESE TWO INSTITUTIONS IF THE STUDENT HAS NOT REGISTERED WITH MSL FIRST. PAYMENT FOR THESE COURSES IS PAID DIRECTLY TO NICHOLS, FISHER, OR FITCHBURG.

A minimum of (8) people must register for a class in order for it to be offered. 1. Evidence is a prerequisite for all clinics and for all trial advocacy classes. 2. If you are interested in obtaining 3:03 certification, you must enroll in a Case Preparation class, Family Law Advocacy, or Trial Court Practice and Procedure. 3. Students may take an Independent Study but must first comply with the “proposal” and “contract” requirements set forth in the Independent Study Standards before being allowed to register for the class. 4. Students participating in Juvenile Law and Juvenile Law On-Line must register for Juvenile Law Rounds and volunteer one day during the semester to work with Attorney Kaldis.

I agree to make all payments in accordance with this plan. I understand that payments due under this plan must be made, in accordance with payment requirements set forth in the catalog, if I withdraw from school.

I acknowledge that I have read MSL’s catalog, website, and Student Guidebook and I am aware of Massachusetts School of Law’s Copyright Infringement Policy.

MSLAW Enrollment and Tuition Payment Agreement

Payment agreement: I understand that when I register for any class at Massachusetts School of Law or receive any service from Massachusetts School of Law, I accept full responsibility to pay all tuition, fees and other associated costs assessed as a result of my registration. I further understand and agree that my registration and acceptance of these terms constitutes a financial obligation in the form of an education MSL/Massachusetts School of Law is providing me educational services, deferring some or all my payment obligation for those services, and I promise to pay for all assessed tuition, fees and other associated costs by the published or assigned due date.

I understand and agree that if I drop or withdraw from some or all the classes for which I register, I will be responsible for paying all or a portion of tuition and fees in accordance with the published tuition refund schedule at MSL’s tuition refund policy/schedule posted in the student guidebook. I have read the terms and conditions of the published tuition refund schedule and understand those terms are incorporated herein by reference. I further understand that my failure to attend class or receive a bill does not absolve me of my financial responsibility as described above.

Financial Aid: I understand that aid described as “estimated” on my Financial Aid Award does not represent actual or guaranteed payment but is an estimate of the aid I may receive if I meet all requirements stipulated by that aid program.

I understand that my Financial Aid Award is contingent upon my continued enrollment in at least 6 credits and attendance in each class upon which my financial aid eligibility was calculated. If I drop any class before completion, I understand that my financial aid eligibility may decrease and some or all the financial aid awarded to me may be revoked.

If some or all my financial aid is revoked because I dropped or failed to attend class, I agree to repay all revoked aid that was disbursed to my account and resulted in a credit balance that was refunded to me. I agree to allow financial aid to use the funds I receive to pay all charges assessed to my account at Massachusetts School Law such as tuition and fees, in accordance with the terms of the aid.

Federal Aid: I understand that any federal Title IV financial aid that I receive will first be applied to any outstanding balance on my account for tuition, fees. Title IV financial aid includes aid from the Direct Loan and PLUS Loan. I authorize the Massachusetts School of Law to apply my Title IV financial aid to other charges assessed to my student account service fees and fines, and any other education related charges like educationally related charges from the prior year.

I further understand that this authorization will remain in effect until I rescind it or separate from MSL and that I may withdraw it at any time by following by email to Kathy Perry at Perry@mslaw.edu

COMMUNICATION

Method of Communication: I understand and agree that MSL uses e-mail as an official method of communication with me, and that therefore I am responsible for reading the e-mails I receive from MSL on a timely basis.

Contact: I authorize MSL and its agents and contractors to contact me at my current and any future cellular phone number(s), email address(es) or wireless device(s) to receive general information from MSL. I authorize MSL and its agents and contractors to use automated telephone dialing equipment, artificial or pre-recorded voice or text messages, and personal calls and emails, in their efforts to contact me. Furthermore, I understand that I may withdraw my consent to call my cellular phone by submitting my request in writing to Mick@mslaw.edu in writing to the applicable contractor or agent contacting me on behalf of MSL.

Updating Contact Information: I understand and agree that I am responsible for keeping. MSL records up to date with my current physical addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers by emailing the Registrar, Rosa@mslaw.edu or using this link https://www.mslaw.edu/change-of-address-form/ for updating student address. Upon leaving MSL for any reason, it is my responsibility to provide MSL with updated contact information for purposes of continued communication regarding any amounts that remain due and owing to MSL.

Financial Hold: I understand and agree that if I fail to pay my student account bill or any monies due and owing Massachusetts School of Law by the scheduled due date, MSL will place a financial hold on my student account, preventing me from registering for future classes, requesting transcripts, or receiving my diploma.

Late Payment Charge: I understand and agree that if I fail to pay my student account bill or any monies due and owing MSL by the scheduled due date, MSL will assess late payment and/or finance charges at the rate of .88 % per month on the past due portion of my student account until my past due account is paid in full.

ENTIRE AGREEMENT: This agreement supersedes all prior understandings, representations, negotiations and correspondence between the student and Massachusetts School of Law, constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the matters described, and shall not be modified or affected by any course of dealing or course of performance. I understand MSL provides a Student Guidebook which houses MSL’s rules and regulations, this guidebook can be found online https://www.mslaw.edu/student-guide/ , attached to MSL’s monthly newsletter and hard copies are provided in the cafeteria. MSL STUDENT CODE

The Massachusetts School of Law requires each student to comply with the following regulations:

1. Special programs of study, not prescribed by the faculty, must be approved in advance of registration by the Dean or a faculty committee designated for this purpose.

2. Students are expected to perform all work assigned.

3. Unless he or she has received prior permission from the Dean, no student may omit an examination scheduled for his or her program of study.

4. Unless the instructor grants an extension of time for good cause, any paper or other project required for a final grade in a course must be submitted no later than the end of the examination period for the semester in which such course is taken.

5. A student whose overall grade-point average falls below a two-point (2.0) average will be placed on academic probation for the next semester. If the student does not attain a two-point (2.0) or better overall average at the end of that probationary semester, the student will not be able to return to school thereafter. Students who fail to complete a required course after 2 attempts, regardless of the Student CGPA, are not considered to be making Satisfactory Academic Progress and are ineligible for Title IV federal funds. Students on Academic Probation or students not making Satisfactory Academic Progress are ineligible to receive Federal Direct Loans and Graduate PLUS loans. In addition, any student who receives a total of two or more “F” grades during his or her career at MSLAW is automatically expelled from school. This rule does not apply to the Comparison of Massachusetts and National Law Course.

6. A student who attends school upon special conditions must fulfill those conditions to remain in school.

7. A student expelled from school for academic reasons or for failing to meet special conditions of admission can petition for reconsideration. Reconsideration will be granted only if there are extraordinary mitigating circumstances.

8. A student may be dismissed for defacing, concealing, or absconding with any library book, or tampering with computers and accessories in the computer lab.

9. Students must not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate among them those who do. Nor shall any student engage in conduct inconsistent with being a student of law. Conduct inconsistent with being a student of law includes violation of rules and regulations of the Law School, as well as illegal activity involving moral turpitude, activity involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation, or any other conduct which reflects adversely on the student’s fitness to practice law.

• Any student aware of conduct violating any provision of these regulations is obligated to report such conduct in writing to the Dean.

• A student accused of violating these regulations has a right to notice and a hearing before a disciplinary committee, where he or she can present evidence and argument, can confront his or her accusers, and can be questioned.

• Penalties for a violation of these regulations can range from censure to expulsion from school.

10. The Law School reserves the right to change the schedule of classes, the program of instruction, the courses required for graduation, and any rule or regulation established for the governance of the school or its student body.

Any such change may be made applicable to students who are already enrolled.
